Our mission

We believe in the power of collective action to solve climate challenges using synthetic biology

Synthetic biology leverages biological organisms to sustainably manufacture products such as animal-free meat, nutrients, clothes, fuels, fertilizers and medicine. We believe that development and adoption these technologies is going to be paramount in solving the existential threats of climate change and food security.

ValleyDAO is a global and open community that funds and collectively incubates academic and independent research projects. Our decentralised community helps researchers maximize the impact of their work by taking their research results beyond the bench and into the real world.

We have streamlined the application process to make it easier for you to receive the support you need to make a difference.

Sustainable Biofluorination of Organic Molecules

Pablo I. Nikel & Mariela P. Mezzina
Denmarks Technical University

Fluorinated organic molecules are difficult to manufacture sustainably due to requiring harsh chemical conditions. Nikel’s group has developed a process to biomanufacture a diverse set of fluorinated molecules that can be used in the electronics, healthcare, automotive, and wearables industries.
